Client concerned about turnaround time of report

Client concerned about turnaround time of report Report prepared by multiple departments and delivered to a Client monthly. Client called me about their concern..

I have addressed improvements for turning around the report in my department. The other department has had inaccuracies on the report (after review by my department) which delays the delivery of the report to the client. How would you approach this topic with the other department without saying, "Your department provided the report with errors".. Dont want to throw them under the bus..but want them to know there needs to be some quality control!!. Thank you!

I would ask the client to email you their concerns. Then share that with higher ups who can make department decisions and can instill information to the appropriate teams. You won't be throwing anyone under any bus. The client wants improvement in your company's process, if I'm understanding this correctly. I'd punt it up to your boss and let them manage it. Not sure if that helps but I'd be a bit frustrated with the other teams too.

You document timing and issues every delivery in a post mortem report to your manager.

Why not have a document that is a living thing in a shared space. Meet once per week a day prior to the report being due and use one person from that dept to be the key for the data that goes in and is correct(ed). Then problem solved. You finalize it the morning of and run with it.

    Makes sense. Thank you!

OP above, I owned a huge companywide item like this that rolled up to the board once a week. This system was magical so when they knew their a$$es were on the line with incorrect data and there was a set time it was due no matter what each week boy did that change the world!
