I often hear from professionals navigating challenges in today’s job market, and I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the reality that many jobseekers are navigating.

Someone I've recently begun working with has been out of work since Spring 2024– the longest they’ve ever been without a job. Despite applying to countless positions, earning additional certifications, and leveraging their network, they’ve still struggled to secure an opportunity.

This is just an opinion. (1) It seems companies want an almost perfect candidate to "hit the ground running" (2) Companies think younger candidates will be around longer and can be paid less. (3) Companies under-estimate the impact of the loss of knowledge and skills when they get rid of older employees. (4) Short term profit is the focus of companies now (Stock Price) and not being long term healthy. These items can make it more difficult to get hired.
