I have 2 month old twins and I am planning to resign from my teaching job and be a SAHM.

I have 2 month old twins and I am planning to resign from my teaching job and be a SAHM. I am looking for a legit WFH data entry job where I can potentially set my own hours. Any advice on finding legit opportunities?

Congratulations!!! How wonderful :) I am twin, its such fun!

Medical transcriptions is a legit work from home job and I know from past experience these companies are always hiring.

Specialized Transcription Services: Companies like Rev and TranscribeMe are beginner-friendly for entry-level work.

I am not sure what you are looking to take home $$$ wise, but there is always work and the jobs are usually flexible.

    Good luck!

Please keep in mind that work from home jobs are real jobs. There are very few that allow you to make your own hours. They also are not a replacement for child care, you still need childcare, you can’t interrupt work to tend to children. For flexibility you could look into online tutoring. You could do childcare in your home for others.

Tutor, don’t know what you teach but having hired many tutors various subjects, I know I paid them well, math could be up to a $100 an hour

The area where we live, $100 an hour is the minimum! We actually just found a tutor for our daughter for $100 an hour and we were stoked. So this is definitely a great idea, if you are in the education space or even willing to study and learn more about it (our daughter is in middle school too, believe it or not). Living in DC is expensive.

Twin mom that also WFH. Please know this is rough, even on very good days it’s rough. In the beginning you’re round the clock child care and when you aren’t / rest. I had to stop pumping once my spouse went back to work because truly there is not a moment I could sit uninterrupted for 30 mins. Then come the regressions, at one point one twin would nap and the other wouldn’t so I always had a baby (so don’t bet on always having nap time when you have two). Then they’re moving and you’re reaching in two directions to keep them from rolling away. I almost always needed help on fitting in work truthfully. I did find for the first 4 months, baby wearing was possible. Then they get too heavy, but then they don’t nap. And by the time they’re 3 you have them in full-time school at half your income because it’s the only way to get anything done. Not to discourage, just the market is very rough for WFH jobs. I suspect it won’t exist in 5 years anyway because so many are abusing it to negate proper childcare / working two+ jobs. Even my company is only hiring hybrid roles since 2026 started. If you can consult or create your own business type (tutoring) you’ll have more autonomy. All the best, this is both the hardest and most rewarding time.

the only way to be sure the job op is legitimate is to choose job ops from companies you know and would like to work for and with. Otherwise as you guessed, the chances of spam and scam go up. Ex: I like ARC, and a few fine arts organizations so I would find them for chat and let them direct me to go further along on my remote job search.

You might look at Proofread Anywhere's material; it's not quite data entry, but should pay better than most data entry will. I say this as someone who has gone through one of their courses and found it very helpful.
