Received a promotion at work and it is somewhat of new territory for me. I have been in the finance industry for years but this role will be more specific. My boss is very excited for me and says they feel I was most qualified for this role. I am terrified I will not do well as it is a bit of new territory. Any words of advice?

Ask your 'boss' what success looks like in this role with specific examples. Brainstorm mutually agreed upon goals with milestones. ie: 90 days, 180 days, etc.

After your meeting send an email with a summary to your boss to ensure you are both in agreement as to what is expected to be accomplished.

Identify any training needed and request it.Good luck!

What you are feeling is normal. I love jumping into uncharted territory, but I understand that not everyone does. You have a couple of great ideas in the other posts here, so I want to say that you need to believe in yourself as much as your boss does.
