Absolutely NOT. What company are you at, and how in the world will they fill a Director / Executive position in that time?

Go ahead and try this, the black mark and bridges you burn will follow you forever.

The OP asked a question because they wanted to do the right thing. Your answer treated them as if they did something wrong for asking. You could kindly tell them that a normal time frame for this is a minimum of x number of days. So, what kind of time frame would you recommend? Your answer implied much more than 2 weeks, but not how much more.

Every company I've ever worked at requires a 30-day notice for ALL management levels. I would have to assume your company is no different.

    It depends honestly.

A notice is a courtesy. That courtesy rests with your feeling of obligation, feeling of being connected to the success of the company yada yada. At the end of the day the company will be fine but it's the transition your exit can impact in the very short term.

I'd recommend offering the standard of 2 weeks. Your company can let you know if they need more time based on the dynamics of the situation. Also, check if your company has a policy regarding this; some do and state the time frame you must give advanced notice for.

What do your company policies say about leave requirements?
