Advice for short-term consulting

Advice for short-term consulting

I'm doing a short-term (40~ hours) for a non-profit whom I trust. I closed my LLC years ago when I got a full-time job and don't intend to resurrect it. The work will give me new skills, so I *could* do it pro bono for exposure, but they told me they could pay me. Has anyone done this or do you have advice? Thx.

As a contractor you can conclude 40 hours quickly and easily. You'll work under a 1099 so just be aware of the tax implications of that earned income.

If you have no desire to contract beyond this opportunity, pro Bono work is a personal decision regarding your contribution beyond a financial arrangement. There is value in swapping pro Bono work for a seat on the Board to increase your contribution to the non-profit's health and success.
