My husband took the day off to stay at home because our nanny had a funeral to attend
And long story short...all the other moms and babysitters at school couldn't believe he was the one taking our kids to school activities etc. I got like 5 emails saying what a great guy he is and how they wished their husbands would get involved. I was happy at first until I realized there's a real double standard. The bar to be a "good dad" seems so much lower than being a "good mom" and the congratulations I got was pretty effusive for what I think any parent would do. With expectations like these in households, I'm a bit depressed about how we'll get to gender equality at work. Maybe I'm just down in the dumps because its Monday but anyone else have this happen?
