I read the article "10 Things to Unlearn" and WOW, do I have a lot of things on my plate, but my most important question is this? How do you change careers after age 50? I have been in HR for over 15+ years. I have been employed since September 2024. Looking and soul searching in Milwaukee WI. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I'm approaching 50 very soon. Not looking now, but following for if/when I start looking. Wishing you success in wherever you land!!

So to make sure I'm clear, you are working and have been employed only 7 months in your current role and have 15+ years of experience. Are you currently working in an HR capacity? First of all I love MKE and if it were me, I'd look at school systems, universities and colleges there (or high school counselor jobs). I think with that many years of experience in HR you would make a great career coach in a school. Look at career centers within colleges near you. You may have to take a small step back financially, but it would be a new start in your journey. In HR you may have gone to many career fairs to recruit. If so, who are your connections in higher ed? Surely you have someone in your network, start there. And I'm 60, in higher ed and starting out in your 50's is not a big deal. Go for it!
