I am looking for a foreign company in China that provides job opportunities for female over 40.

I'm 41 and recently lost my job due to layoffs. Finding work in China is tough when you're over 40, but I'm hopeful. I believe that by learning and improving myself, I can join a foreign company, where age isn't as restrictive. My first step is to search online for job opportunities in foreign companies, especially those that favor women.

I have no guidance for you, but I do understand your plight. I have a few Chinese nationals where I work and one of them (rather high up in our organization) struggled understanding why older individuals were applying for roles (the first interview I partnered with him on was a disaster and I basically had to scold him after) and why they continued working after what he considered mandatory retirement age.

What is your skill set? What type of work would you like to be doing? What is your experience? Knowing a little bit about you can help others help you. Many multinational corporations have a presence in China, so there is potential there. Continuous learning and development is wise and will show future employers you are smart, dedicated and open to learning new things…all great attributes.

Please consider your citizenship before jumping to China. In Canada we have had innocent persons go over and work and ended up in prison for years. Google 'The Two Michaels'. If you have an opportunity to work in a democratic country, I would continue to seek work in such a place. If you really want to work in China, I believe you could reach out to a recruiter from China who could help you. You never listed what type of job so it is hard to help you.
