My company is having financial issues. I know its time to update my resume and get looking. My question is about social media. Is it essential I turn my LinkedIn on? I currently have it and my FB hibernating due to some stalking. Please advise.

Personally AND professionally, I don't think LI is all that. I've had little success with it and find it to be just another creepy platform. You may want to use it to look for connections but social media is not the end all, be all. JMO.

I’ve not had this experience with LinkedIn. I find it to be a highly effective networking and professional platform. I write thoughtful actionable posts that always get a ton of views and comments. Please do some research on how to most effectively use the platform during your job search.

I look up candidates on LinkedIn for sure.-but if you only have a handful of followers and nothing posted ever, not worth it.

I would pause any "iffy" other social media.

You can always set up your own website very affordable so that you have a unique domain url. Wordpress sites are easy to set up to look professional and you could really highlight your resume with work samples, testimonials, etc yourself. Since only those who you apply to will have it, it would be safe. I don’t really use social media like FB anymore either, and if asked, I simply state that I have no active social media do to safety concerns. That’s it. No drawn out explanations. It’s not relevant to the job.

I was in the same boat, but then I tried Wordpress plugins. It worked for me!

That's true, here is useful guide https://www.spaceship.com/blog/the-best-wordpress-plugins-to-boost-website-functionality/ about best WordPress plugins to boost your website. Tools like WooCommerce and other helped to improve my site's performance and boost customer engagement. I like how easy it was to install and customize them without coding skills. I also appreciate that mny of the plugins have free versions with upgrade options. Useful blog for best plugins.
