Vent: I am over the blind recruiting texts that want me to work a temp role "immediately" in areas i live nowhere close (in office) and not anywhere related to my experience.

Yesterday, someone texted me for a 4m contract and I said "I'm working FT, not interested". He came back announced the salary-- which BTW - is 1/2 my current earnings. Still doesn't get the hint.

I get these are sales people finding me on LinkedIn or Indeed and need a quota. Very frustrating. Constantly get these-

Yes it's a numbers game .....this is the same as cold calling. They just need to get one hit.

    Yeah I hate those.
They always seem to come from overseas recruiting agencies with no concept of actually reading a person's resume/online profile and don't know how to spend 15 seconds to look up two cities on Google maps.

One recruiter said they saw me on LinkedIn with NO location listed. Location (city, state) listed on my profile. Job is in Orlando 8h away.

This is why I don't disclose my phone number on LinkedIn (even in the resume) and only provide an email address. I get enough of these emails that I promptly delete them. I give my phone number only when I directly apply for a position.

Good point. I had it on LI when I was looking. Took it off.

Yep, temp, part-time, short contract, lower salary, and hundreds of miles from where I live, and for positions that I'm not interested in, and not qualified for. The ATS did word-mixer. Garbage in, garbage out. It's a waste of their time and mine - even if the text generation is automated, it wastes their time when unqualified people reply, and harms their reputation.

And companies that do this apparently think a low match rate is reasonable and normal. And the organizations that use them wonder why they get so many bad matches.

    SIGH
