Help!

A new entry level direct report has been told they report to several managers.

Situation: out of the 5 of us, 1 manager is their primary. When I assigned an instructions they pushed back and said, let me see what they want (2 others) 'with least amount of knowledge expertise' delaying this project further. The output of my projects.

for this example: we asked for their flexibility in this role and that directive/instructions will come from each of us individually.

How would you address this? Why does it matter. I'm getting emails directly by the pay group this affects and they've delayed this project by 7 days. Meanwhile the other half of this project has been completed without micromanagement by my colleagues or our newbie. Thank you!

Who is their primary manager? Whoever they report directly to should be the one directing the work and perhaps this new employee needs some help with prioritization. What is being done now is clearly not working.

Sounds like the managers needs to figure out how to support this entry level person by communicating better what tasks each manager has by using a project management tracking tool like Monday.com with project description, timelines and deadline etc. and all managers will know the entry level persons bandwidth because other managers may also have tight deadlines. This will easily burn the entry level person out over time and cause unnecessary frustration in all parts.

5 managers to report too that's tough! I have a team who reports to me through a manager, I run asks through my manager since he has thr most visibility of their time and other priorities. If you and the other managers work out a system it will be a big win for everyone especially the employee so priorities are clarified.
