    Hi,

Please don't be overly open with your manager or employer.

Ive learnt the hard way touch base is either their way of wanting to pass on information or see how you feel about a certain situation

Don't share any negative opinions you may have .

Ive noticed if they can speak badly of your colleagues behind their back they most often will do the same to you.

It is best if you keep calm and show little to no emotion on your face.

    Good luck

Thank you for sharing your insights. It's a shame we can't tell management how we really feel and that they aren't willing to use employees' feedback to improve company culture and employee well-being, especially in a healthcare organization like the one where I work. I agree if they engage in gossip or speaking badly about others behind their backs, they are probably doing the same with me. I feel like I'm a one-person team rather than a member of my team. I'll keep calm and go along with the "everything's fine" attitude as much as it pains me. I do love my job, just not all the people I work with lol!

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I’ve been doing exactly what you’ve advised - kept my mouth shut and pretended everything is ok for the past 4+ years. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to tolerate the falsehood and gaslighting that goes on in my team with some people, but for now I’ll do my best. We’ll soon have an employee satisfaction poll which is optional, but really not. I don’t even know what actions were taken, if any, after last year’s poll. Seems everything is status quo. I don’t know that transparency on those surveys is a smart decision. Thanks again!

I’m going through something similar. The work culture is toxic and i’ve been through this more to know not to stay. I’m debating whether to stay and transfer to another department but I can this is limited to my department. But do I tell my manager or just hand in my notice once I have a new job. I know there is nothing she can do and even if she can, change will take a long time.
