Please consider replacing all of the declarative statements about you race and age with actionable information like what your degree is actually in, your skill sets, work experience, location and industry.

So, you are a business professional who has many things to offer a company.

Yes, it is possible. I’m at the end of the boomer year so more of a GenX, however ageism is real. I feel more jobs are available to us within state agencies. Corporate seems to be more interested in hiring new grads or early talent.

I’m a woman in my early 50s, with a 30+ year-old diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder, a recovering alcoholic with 7.5 years of sobriety and I swear too much. I also have my MBA, I work in a senior position at one of the largest banks in the country, I previously worked for two other fortune 20 companies, I’ve been a long-time volunteer in my community, and I’m a cookie manager in my daughter’s Girl Scout troop. Context and framing are everything, aren’t they? I could have led with all of my professional credentials but instead I chose a victim mentality approach. Flip the script.

Probably not feasible or realistic. I am in the same situation. And being interviewed by young Caucasian folks who don't see me as a "good fit."

Maybe its your negativity and bad attitude that people are responding to.

Anything is possible but you may want to selectively look, depending on what your degree is in. Education and local/state government are safe bets now. Best of luck!

Of course it is! It all depends on what you are looking for. Some industries (tech in particular) are going through a lot of churn as a result of some high profile mass layoffs that have flooded the job market with job seekers. Other industries (like healthcare) can't find enough people to work. What you need to do is stay positive and look for any opportunity to get your foot in the door. It might mean classes to develop new skills, volunteering or taking a lower salary to segue into your career. Never think it's impossible. Frustrating? Absolutely. Impossible? Never. Go for it and good luck!!!
