Change Careers

I have been doing accounting for many years. I have 1 daughter in college and the other graduating. Now that they are older I want a change in careers. I want to know if anyone has any tips or ideas.

Thank you ladies, all of these are really great and I appreciate it. I am going to go back to school. I am wanting to go into nursing. After a year I finish i would like to do travel nursing. I have been in accounting for 20 years and I just don't want to do it anymore.

I agree with Jackie, it's time to focus on what you'd like to do. Take some time to play, take classes, explore any interests that you haven't had time for. I've got a list of some great sites where you can upskill or just take classes for fun, many of them are free - https://shehitrefresh.com/12-online-learning-sites-for-remote-work-skills/

Hi Steph, I am a Strategist for women changing careers. My first recommendation is to write our what pulls you? What areas inspire you? Put your list together. Then compile it and keep it next to your bed. Each day look for something new in the job market that matches your key inspiration list. Begin in your mind what transferable skills you have and where you may need training or a certification. If you need more help, contact me.

If you know what you want to change to, figure out how you can upskill yourself to fit that career. Do you need to take classes or volunteer? Can you spin your current duties and responsibilities to fit your newly chosen career? If you don't know what you want to do, take some time to reflect on what makes you happy and will bring you joy. Then see above! :) Best of luck to you!
