Holiday songs: love them or can’t stand them?

It's December which means holiday music is on every radio station and in every store. Are you the type of person who can't get enough of it or do you try and avoid it as much as possible?

Cannot stand any "Holiday" music except for traditional hymns and carols. Absolutely detest it.

I do love me some Christmas music (depending on the song), but it's definitely all about balance. I can't do it constantly leading up to Christmas but there are days and nights here or there where I put it on to get into the spirit! Also great for decorating and holiday shopping ;)

Can't. They depress me and make me sad - I'll be home for Christmas, The Christmas Song, even Jingle Bells. The holidays are a depressing time for some people, myself included, and as hard as I fight not to be sad at this time of year I can't help it. I would prefer not to hear it but I won't take it away from others who enjoy them and the spirit of the holiday.

I'm so sorry! Hearing those songs everywhere you go is certainly not easy I'm sure

I like holiday songs, close to the holiday not in the middle of November or 24/7. I can only take Jingle Bells, or Here Comes Santa Claus just so many times.

For me... Depends on the song and the artist. Some I like - some I hate - some drive me up the wall.

What's your top song and the one you hate the most? I'm always curious as everyone has such different answers

The one that I hate the most is the "Little Drummer Boy" song...it always get me in my feelings. All I Want for Christmas is you...is one of my faves. Any version.

Lol, I feel the same way about that Christmas Shoes song - I cry like every time I hear it so now I just shut it off

I like hearing them when I am out shopping...NOT blasting over speakers, but subtle or just the instrumental. Personally, I don't play it at home until the eve or the day.

Love, but I don't start listening until December 1. I don't work in retail though, and I bet hearing the loop of holiday music all day at work could get a little irritating.

Oh it does!! I used to work in retail for years and there was one local radio station that played Christmas music starting from November 1st all day every day until Christmas - it drove me insane!! Another store I worked at made their own playlist which was mixed with some Christmas and some non-Christmas music and that was much more tolerable

Same for me when working retail. We had to play the Sirrius holiday stations that only played Christmas stations. It was very mind numbing! What makes it even worse is the crabby attitudes of some of the customers. Holiday shopping congestion really does bring out the worst in some people. whether we say Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas it doesn't matter since the negative customers diminish the true meaning anyway!

Ugh I hated that so much! One time we ran out of gift boxes where I worked and a woman full on screamed at me when I told her we didn't have any more.

I think a mix of holiday songs is a great balance. Recently, i've felt a little disappointed in how my year turned out; listening to holiday music helps me appreciate the good things that did happen. Music can be really transforming for me, its a healthy distraction away from my negative thoughts and compels me to be grateful, appreciative and spiritual. So what if things didn't work out, at least I'm alive and healthy. The music reminds me to relax, clear my head and just enjoy the present moment.
