Should I consider working for a previous employer?

Should I consider working for a previous employer? I applied for social security disability benefits over 14 months ago - for the 3rd time - but have yet heard anything. I drove over 2 months ago but a decision has yet to be made. I have been living with extended family for nearly 4 years now and I am incredibly blessed & grateful. My goal is return back to work and be a productive member of society. Any suggestions? I'd be very grateful for some insights.

I'd be hesitant to return because of what I might think of the positive reasons to return may not be there any longer- but I didn't know your career, situation, location.....

Have you given up on disability benefits? If you go back to work, you could put it in jeopardy.

From what I understand about SSD/SSI unless something has changed in the past couple of years or so, is that if you are working it is an automatic decline. Once you qualify for benefits, you can start back working but will risk losing them or having them reduced. SSD and SSI have different rules about returning to work, and SSDI is even more complicated, so I would wait until you have an answer about your claim before returning to work. Once you are approved, they will pay you all your back-pay to the time you first applied. Be grateful you have a supportive family because many people don't, and therefore don't have an option not to get paid for the time it takes to process a claim. After you start getting benefits, research the impact of returning to work before you decide if it is an option for you.

I stay with Corporate, For Profit. Working for small family business = drama I don't want.

Corporate has its share as well, but I'm a self-contributor WFH so is much easier stay isolated.
