Anyone feel like they are held to a higher standard amongst colleagues?

due to a high quality of execution and work ethics, I feel that I am often taken advantage of and get berated when things go wrong (even when it is completely out of my job scope - but because I am capable, somehow the finger points to me). With over 20 years of corp work experience, I am starting to notice this pattern.

It's called performance punishment. The most productive people are expected to go above and beyond and management says "We expect more from you because we know how good you are". As if that's a compliment.

You may be singled out because people know you'll fix the mess. So think about how you could respond the next time they to take advantage or pass the blame to you. Also think about how you'll manage expectations when you take on a task - that can help define the scope of your work upfront and what you can realistically take on.

PS - Ask a Manager has a lot of useful advice on work boundaries so check out her website https://www.askamanager.org/
