Hi, Fairygodboss fam! I’m Yamini, your new Community Specialist, and I’m so excited to be here!

Hi, Fairygodboss fam! I’m Yamini, your new Community Specialist, and I’m so excited to be here!

I’m passionate about creating safe, vibrant spaces where women and non-binary folks can show up fully, share boldly, and connect meaningfully.

By day, I’m here to spark conversations, celebrate your wins (big and small!), and help make this community feel like your favorite corner of the internet.

By night, I’m saving Gotham City… haha just kidding (I wish). Actually, I’m elbow-deep in podcasts and audiobooks, online shopping for home decor I know I don’t have space for, and making way too many notes in my planner to set myself up for success the next day.

I’d love to hear from you—what’s something that’s been bringing you joy lately?

I’ll go first!

What’s bringing me joy lately is this new role! I’ve been an ardent user of this platform and absolutely love how involved the community is in lifting each other up.

I can’t wait to contribute to that magic and support each of you on your journeys. Catch you on the feed!

Well this is a welcoming space.

I am on academia stack. I am kind of just here to buffer through their comments. And to have resilliency. Currently I have been asking

I am asking questions relating to the workplace. This is a more hospitable site , with people friendly communication. The commentators take a bit of getting used to. Usually male.

The real world has both genders. Even if there are more women in my field.

How do you get output from listening?

Yamini, Welcome. It is nice to know that others understand that gender roles should not define us. As a woman whose profession(s) have all been male-dominated, I appreciate others who can look at what I do without judgment or labels. Right now, those of us who do not subscribe to the "gender assigned at birth" theory of gender roles and identities do not feel safe or secure in expressing those thoughts.

Welcome, Yamini! It's fantastic to have you here. I'm so happy to hear that your new role has been bringing you joy! Thanks for bringing the magic.

Connecting with close friends and discovering ways to support each other has been bringing me joy. I've also been enjoying finding sunny indoor spots to sit while I plan my garden and wait out the last of the spring snow flurries.

Welcome to the FGB family Yamini!

The one thing bringing me joy right now... the fact I completed a Master's program at Capella University. I graduated (with distinction - something I still can't wrap my head around!) last September with an M.S.Ed in Higher Education specialization in Adult Education.

There was a time I quit high school and didn't think I'd go back. I did - but never thought I'd get through college. To now have a Master's...

But my journey doesn't end there. I've just started on my doctorate journey (again, with Capella) on March 3. Because... why not? ?

Look forward to "seeing" you around!

  17. Gabi Carachilo

Congrats, Paulla! Wishing you luck on your Doctorate journey.

  18. Barb Hansen

Congrats on completing your Master's program!

So I am a working mom. I just made a move to another industry and when I saw things were going well interview wise I made the bold move of stating to the recruiter… I am a mom and I need to understand what that means to this company. Guess what! They said this company is family first company and she was so happy that I said what I said. It was risky but it really depends on the company you are aiming for. Do research on how some companies may work around your needs as an employee.

    Welcome, Yamini!
