Hi Everyone,

Hi Everyone,

Just a short post...about PTO. I've worked for my company roughly 20 years. The noose is tighter than ever over PTO. We have unlimited, but there have never been any real backups for work. It seems like whenever we request these days, there's some type of discouragement, such as the boss requesting a project right around your PTO time or booking extra meetings around it, etc. I've noticed this pattern. It seems to be an issue with co-workers as well. I suffer from migraines and have to call out more. Other teams take their PTO and our team can't do the same...I just want to add that I don't take off a lot for vacations and I don't have children that would occupy extra time off. They have these Mental Health days that we can take. While I don't really trust those labels and how they are used, I did use one once and my boss stuck me with a project directly after. I would think that if I need a mental health break, I am burnout? No?

Does anyone else experience this issue and what might be done? Does this seem toxic for lack of a better word? Thanks everyone.

The issue is common about inconsistencies in Flex time use. Some get take it regularly and others do not. It is more management side allowing or not allowing things. I also seldom take time off. My take is to give plenty of notice (multiple months if possible) and just take the scheduled time off (I arrange coverage or get the boss ok and allow him to handle it if nobody is readily willing to cover). That has happened only once. My suggestion is to choose a once a month day or half day when your schedule is not so busy and schedule that. It may be during the week. Spend the time at a park (national or other) or a walk path unless you bedridden from a migraine. Is there a date that is more likely to cause a migraine?

We have frequent and inconsistent meetings which tend to trigger my migraines and stress. I think I got used to our old system before our transition; we were able to just request random days off and no problem. It's gotten stricter. Thanks for your reply.

The first thing you need to do is get out of there. This is a very unhealthy environment. Until you leave, apply to use intermitted FML for your migraines. I have done that because I get migraines. If your company does not let you use your PTO they have no respect for you and work life balance. You are in a hostile workplace and you need to take care of yourself.

Hi! That was an interesting idea—I really liked it—but I came here to ask: how do CS2 "crash" mode sites work? What advice can you give? I’d really appreciate it.
