Advice for Recent Grads
I'm seeing a lot of posts from recent graduates at all level -- congrats grads! The excitement of graduation also often comes with a lot of stress around job searching.
A few pieces of advice for recent grads:
- Utilize your alumni network. Most (not all) colleges and universities have resources, events, linkedin pages, and more for alumni. Connecting with your alumni can be a great way to network and to learn about opportunities.
- Get specific with your job search. I work with a lot of recent graduate and so many say "I'll take any job" and while that might be true, job searching without a strategy and without a clear idea of what you're looking for is extra challenging
- Don't stop learning. Your degree may be completed but there is always more to learn. As you job search pay attention to the different skills, technologies, etc. that are most common in your field or industry of interest. There are many opportunities to gain and refine skills through free and low cost certifications, courses, and training that can support your job search.
