With the hundreds of applications received for each role, this is actually an acceptable response. It's better than being ghosted.

Employers are in control and have hundreds to choose from. 7 seconds sounds about right.

Emails like this and not even being considered for a role can be super frustrating and if you need a place to vent that frustration this is a great place to do that!

If you're looking for or are open to a few options or next steps, I'd offer the following:

First: Are there other ways to optimize your application materials? Look back at your resume and the job description (or a similar job description at the company) to see if there are other keywords that can be incorporated or specific skills that the company is seeking that can be further highlighted or added to your resume.

Second: If this is a company you are really interested in working at or if it's a company that is known to have a really competitive application process consider using LinkedIn to connect with others at the company (look for people in the same department in addition to hiring managers) to connect with them prior to applying again

Welcome to the automation of job applications.

People are upset when they don't hear back and even when they do. Keep at it, that wasn't the one.

I've (personally, not via any automated response) reviewed a submitted application and made the determination to pass on a candidate in (significantly) less than 5 minutes after it hit my inbox. I know what I'm looking for and if an applicant doesn't tick any of my boxes, I'm not going to waste more time. That said, I usually let it sit in my box for a few days before I officially decline it so it's not so obvious to the applicant. If I were wading through hundreds of applications, however, I would probably disposition as I go for my own sanity.

Help me understand the issue here. You were not considered a fit for the position and were notified they would not be moving forward with you as a candidate.

Candidates are always complaining they don't hear anything back. You were notified - what exactly is the issue here?

Original poster here - It wasn't a complaint. I was making light of the wording in the letter. I forgot to add that the rejection came back within hours of submission. Anything to make me laugh during this interminable job search. My apologies if I didn't make that clear in the initial post.
