Why can't I seem to even get an interview or let alone a job with Woolworths and I'm talking about a basic entry level position job, I'm 44 years old and I have previously worked for Coles for 18 years.

Welcome to my world. I have applied for a job every day for the past year. I see a plethora of jobs posted that I qualify, have tailored my resume for each job, submitted my application, and I have gotten less than 10 interviews in a year. I am 52 and wonder if the ATS system is reviewing more than my qualifications. There is noone to follow-up with or any way to track the status of your application. I can't seem to get an entry level position either much less a position that fits my skill set. I never thought getting laid off at 51 years old would be an issue and just assumed I would be able to obtain work quickly due to my qualifications and education. I was wrong.

Sometimes it's just not a fit.

Have you shown up at places and handed someone your resume directly? If you are wanting to continue in retail that would be a great way to get in.

Is it possible the hiring team might think you are overqualified for the entry-level positions you are applying for? Maybe you could leverage your experience into a mid-level or managerial position.

Since wooworth's closed their variety stores in 97 (yes they have Kinney shoes and footlocker) I don't know you'll get a job with them.

Also did you work for Cole Haan or Kohl's?

I definitely don't put spelling mistakes as the main reason for rejecting a candidate, however I do want someone who can spell the name of their employer of 18 years.
