Can HR block you from applying at their Company?

Can HR block you from applying at their Company?

I tried today to apply online for a role. I have a full account opened about 1 year already, but everytime I attempt, it keep saying:

" Temporary password has expired".

I have not created a temporary account or a temporary password..! In fact, I had several interviews at this company too.

Is that an IT glitch? It happened in other occassions, and I am suspicious that HR may be blocking - automatically- emails from candidates they dont want to receive applications?

Is this possible? .. beside that, I emailed them asking for support too.

Someone told me that" HR is not your friend" nor friendly, and in the event that this may happen, they will never tell you, to prevent possible lawsuits.

No glitch. Just secured feature. Try create a new password. If that doesn't work, create a new account.

Most companies don't host outside individuals accounts forever. They do housekeeping every so iften so as not to host too many accounts.

I liked the other poster's reply. Great suggestion. Also, try another browser. I work with systems daily and find that when I go to another browser it seems to open the door. If not, try getting in by changing your password, or click the HELP button and see if they have an online BOT to answer your question. Hang in there!

Just create a different Google email account and then a new account if you’re worried about it. It’s likely just a glitch - probably the software provider pushed an update that affected PWs. But there are a million ways to apply for positions and create new accounts. If HR wanted to block your application n or prevent your hire, they’d go about it a different way.

Something to consider though: why has your first thought been that HR blocked you? Did they give you a reason or is it paranoia? You’ll want to sort that out asap so it doesn’t affect interviews and subsequent job performance with any company you would potentially work for. And if you do get an interview, DON’T bring this question up.

First please do not bash HR as the bad guy here. HR has zero to do with this and your mentality around HR being the bad guy will not get you what you want.

Instead please learn how these systems work. ATS- applicant tracking systems have built in parameters baked into their application process that limits the timeline for how often you can apply. The reasons for this are simple. If you keep applying over and over again your application crosses over in their system many places and created duplicates that mean that someone or the system needs to make those into one. If you have ever applied to the system it creates a specific login for your application where either you or the internal Recruiting (not HR) function of the hiring manager can review this. Usually once they status your application and in some ATS once they even touch it it marks it as either read or puts it into a specific status based upon how the technical team custom set it. It is not HR who does that it is a technical person in either their IT team or the ATS team. These systems are quite complex and as an expert in over 20 of them I can tell you this. If you get a response to getting a new login reset that and move forward.

So the short answer is yes, you have a login, yes you might be locked out because you are in the rejected and not hired status and you are temporarily blocked from reapplying or being considered. If you truly failed the interview and the company does not want to consider you again for whatever reason often there is a permanent block on the reapplication. Usually in standard mode it can be 6 months or most times 1 year.

A small work around to this could be actually set up an account, and use a different email address (you should anyway for job search purposes) and reapply that way.

Good luck, and please stop bashing my profession!

Thanks for your reply. I have indeed open a new account and re- apply with recent updates. Still, it doesnt go through. The Company has contacted me, apologising for this miss - happening, they had some IT issues to solve, as they have received questions from more applicants too.

I had an interview about 1 year ago, and did not get it, for which I am glad to be invited for that face-to-face meeting. You have the chance to meet some of your team members. 1 of them worked with me in the past, and that person told me why they did not hire me...

Original individual who posed the inquiry was not bashing. 3 paragraphs to defend HR folks?? Really overkill.

use a new email address, highly unlikely that they would go and block, that creates issues on their end too.

Simple solution would be to create a new email address and go from there.

I can almost guarantee that most HR departments and/or hiring manages will have a list of candidates that are no go for whatever reason.

You say you have had several interviews with this company? What happened with each of those?

My advice would be to try a different browser. certain websites are so finicky. Also, if you have a VPN or other such blocker or privacy filter that can be a problem too. Just like certain shopping websites won't let you onto the page unless you take down all the tracker blockers and privacy filters - this could be the same thing. They won't let you in unless they can get in and find out everything about you.

It's true! HR is not your friend. They're not anyone's friend. We are here to balance employee needs and the company's needs and maintain compliance. If you go into a company believing that anyone, in any department should be your friend, you are going to be extremely disappointed. Set your expectations appropriately and go into a company looking for good colleagues, not friends.

Did u try the option "change password" or "I forgot my password"?

The short answer to your question is yes, but if you've never worked there i think HR would b more apt to just ignore any future applications, not block your attempts to apply.

More than likely it's a system glitch. Make sure u r applying directly from the hiring company's website. If none of the above works, then make a new profile wit a new email.

It defiantly sounds like a system issue with your employee profile. While yes companies can blackball you I have never seen it happen at this stage. Generally you can always apple but that does not mean you will get an interview.

I would not stress about this. Just get IT to fix it.

Have you tried going in via a different browser? Could be a sync issue
