What job search strategies are you finding effective?

Currently, I'm working with a few clients who are having success with networking and who are approaching networking from a "curiosity" lens - where they are reaching out to others to learn more about what they do, the companies they've worked for, etc. and how that is leading to better, more beneficial conversations and information about job opportunities.

I'm curious to know if others have used different strategies with the job search or networking and what is currently working well for you.

I’m currently using a combination of networking and applying. Networking is going well; most people are OK to meet, but I find in my industry, very few offer follow in connections, even when I explicitly ask.

The best networking meetings have resulted in: “we’d love to create a C-suite role for you. Let me talk to the team”, showing that they didn’t even have a role and that waiting for a job posting would have been a waste.

That said, the first really serious interview request I got was for a role I applied to online, with no connections.

I think a combination is the way to go.
