Follow-up when on vacation...

Follow-up when on vacation... employed by a small consulting firm... owner of company is my backup...asked her to follow-up on a our largest client request while I was on vacation... it appears she did not since I do not see an email trail (have not discussed with her yet -it is possible follow-up was verbal). How would you approach this with her...a) Ask her the status of the request? b) and if she did not follow-up ... would you state your disappointment or just drop it?

Ask her; maybe it was verbally accomplished or maybe she was sick. Hear her out THEN ask questions

    Thank you! Makes sense!

you asked the Owner of the company to do this? Well, you can certainly ask her if she was able to get this done while you were on vacation but if she didn't, I would not comment. It's her company; if she wants to lose the account, that's on her.

I agree with the advice given here, ask and see what her response is but unless the client comes back to you or makes a comment about a lack of communication I don't think more needs to be done.

If there is blowback let the customer know you were on vacay and refer them to the owner for solution. Easy peasy.
