Missing one of the requirements

Need your feedback! I am interested in applying for a marketing manager position, however, one of the requirements says "ability to write HTML, CSS and Javascript." Should I still apply even if I can't do this? I do meet all of the other 10 requirements of the position.

So... I want to add to my post. I still firmly believe you should apply. My recommendation, after applying is to start doing research and tutorialson CSS, Java and HTLM before you get called in. This way, when they ask you about it, you can speak to what you do know and how you take on tasks when a portion of it is new to you.

I agree with the other ladies advice, definitely apply. If you check 9/10 boxes, you are totally qualified. You can be proactive and start looking for courses in what you’re missing. Maybe there is an inexpensive crash course that gives you basic instruction into what you need to learn. That can show the initiative to learn something new, should the question come up during the interview. Best wishes on the job search!

Yes, apply! Do you know there is some crazy stat about how men and women apply for jobs. Women will only apply to jobs if they have all the requirements while men will apply even if they only have 50% of the requirements. It's insane. There's nothing wrong with applying and being upfront and honest when you get the interview. Once on the interview, bring forth all of your amazing qualifications, your personal brand story on how your skills translate to benefit the organization and share how you plan on learning those coding components quickly (maybe you start taking courses or shadowing another employee).

Yes! You should apply - men apply more frequently than women when they don't meet all of the qualifications. Let's change the script and get more women in front of hiring managers! https://www.forbes.com/sites/nextavenue/2014/09/11/are-women-too-timid-when-they-job-search/#6217eae1411d

Honestly, I would say yes you should still apply, unless you think that those will be major components of the role. In my experience as a hiring manager, no one ever possesses all of the skills I'm hiring to and sometimes, if they are missing a key skill and I find out during the interview, I still take them on. I've found it's better to take on someone willing to learn a new skill than someone who has everything I'm looking for. The latter tends to get bored and want to move on too quickly.
