I currently feel like I am going through mid-life career crisis.Looking for any advice or mentors who would be willing to provide guidance!

I am an Engagement Manager with 10+ years of project management experience and 6+ years of organizational effectiveness/change management experience. I really like work in the OE and operations area, but am really trying to leave consulting to go in industry. Ideally, this would be in Pharma, but it has been an uphill battle getting my foot in the door and am wondering if it is even possible. Many jobs I think I am qualified for I get an immediate rejection. I have also not seen many mid level jobs. Many are too senior, I believe, for me. I am incredibly grateful to have a job, but have two young children and the lifestyle is just not worth trading time with my kids. In my past, I have also done work in customer experience and food systems/CPG. I also like this work, but pharma has just been my main experience the past several years of my career.

Right now, I think it is find g the right place for me based on the work and to gain additional experience. I am just getting deflated by the job market (as I know many are) feeling like I have no experience or not the “right” experience.

Thank you in advance for the help and advice!

I have been feeling the same way. Got laid off last November, so I’m about to hit a year on my job hunt in a few weeks here. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and undervalued even when you know you’re a qualified candidate.

I always wanted a mentor as well and never found one who I could rely on outside of the office but I recently found a site called ADPList.com where you can browse mentors in different industries and request to book time with to chat about career advice and guidance.

I had my first session with someone in marketing and it was refreshing. Kinda felt like therapy.

ADPlist.org is great! I'm a mentor on it if you'd like to check it out. It's free and can help if you're feeling stuck.

Hi Maria, I completely understand how overwhelming this situation can feel, and it sounds like you’ve been working hard to find the right path forward. At this stage, it might be really helpful to connect with a professional career coach who can help you clarify your goals and create a plan with actionable steps to land the job you want. Fairygodboss partners with The Muse to offer career coaching (the tab is above, "Coach Connect"). A coach can offer personalized guidance and support to ensure you’re moving in the right direction and making progress. I hope this is helpful. You’ve got this!
