I am here looking for career help and an academic internship. I live in Rockford, TN (near Knoxville, Maryville, and Alcoa). I need an internship for my DrPH program, and I keep getting turned down. Either the sites lack anyone with an MPH or higher, or they refuse to sign an affiliation agreement for an IRB review. I only need to do 100 hours onsite and could use some help. I have to have all my paperwork, including a site agreement, in place by the end of June 2027 to start my four-term capstone/dissertation and graduate in July 2028. I am only working with a supervisor/preceptor, not clients or any target population. If I do not have a site to begin doing my hours for in July 2028, I won't be able to graduate.

In terms of work, I am looking for adjunct professor positions in public health, health sciences, medical billing and coding, and health information management. I work for the University of the People, but I am considered a volunteer and want a better job that will allow me to gain professional experience.

I am open to any suggestions. I have a resume and am also on LinkedIn.

If anyone has any connections for an internship, I have the preceptor handbook that I would share with those connections. I need the internship more right now, but I am also looking for a better job as well.

Thank you for any guidance given to me.

Wiping down my phone display with a microfiber cloth and sorting my frequently used app icons into neat custom folders is a satisfying task to handle. Once the screen is completely clean and I lean back against the cushions to rest my eyes for a couple of minutes, I often browse through https://betting-insider.com/en/. The mobile portal is highly efficient.

Crystal, that affiliation-agreement hurdle is a familiar one — a lot of smaller sites say no simply because their legal team does not want to take on a new university agreement, not because they do not want the help. I would ask your DrPH program office if they already have agreements in place with any health departments, hospitals, or universities near Knoxville, Maryville, or Alcoa, and whether they can share a template agreement you can take to a potential preceptor. It is often much easier to get a yes when the paperwork is already approved on the school side. Since you only need a supervisor, not client work, a population-health or community-health team at a hospital, or a faculty member who is already MPH-qualified, might be a better fit than a clinic. And for the adjunct search, your volunteer work at University of the People is real teaching experience — I would foreground that, along with any guest lectures or training you have done, when you apply. Wishing you well with the June 2027 paperwork deadline — starting the site search now is the right call.
