Very tough job market out there

Very tough job market out there

Hi - I left my last job at the end of January due to discrimination on multiple levels. I was in management.

Initially, unemployment disqualified me for unemployment because I voluntarily quit. I appealed and won the case as it was determined to be with good cause.

The job market is so tough right now, I am thinking about pivoting and getting into a field using my transferable skills. The problem is that I am not sure what I want to do at this point. I also feel burnt out from my previous career as I was in it for over 30 years. I was in recruiting and worked my way to the management level. The next step could be a Director level but quite frankly, I am not sure I am up to the politics that exist in corporate America. I thought about starting my own business and also got an LLC for my recruitment business, but I am not motivated to stay in recruitment. I really think the bulb is totally burnt out and I need to start something new and exciting. I just do not know what to do in terms of next steps.

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has some suggestions, please let me know.

Go for the LLC - I’m so happy you appealed the U/E - I left a company that was so toxic and a “family” business but luckily, the wife actually saw and knew how hard I worked and actually cared about the business and employees- with that said - take this time to make your LLC work - when will you get the chance again? And PLEASE reach out and keep me posted!!

I feel that you may want to eventually go with the LLC route. You may want short term employment in the area in the same work area as your LLC to get a feel of the work first. It may be problematic to start an LLC only to find out that it is not enjoyable. Also, try to limit your hours in the short term job (stay near 40 hours) so you can have time outside of work to deal with your burn-out.
