How often do you even bother chasing after recruiters who have ghosted you?

I have applied to a company several months ago. They said they are ready to hire me, we even talked money and then they got silent. I reached out, the response was that they still consider me, but then it was touch and go. I even told them that it is ok if they moved on and to consider me for future opportunities. But they keep dangling this, saying they will call me and then they don't. Do I even bother at this point? Or just write them off?

They have likely extended an offer to someone else and are waiting for the BG to clear or other such nonsense. They are probably stringing you along in the event the other person doesn't work out. I hope you haven't stopped looking, so continue your search. Whether or not you want to withdraw from the offer is up to you. What they are doing speaks to how communications work at the company, and you need to decide if that is the type of place you want to consider.

You don't need to write them off. If anything comes up they will track you down.
