Do I have any options for FMLA or short term disability?

Do I have any options for FMLA or short term disability?

I’ve been under an enormous amount of stress and pressure at work. I’ve been doing the job of 3 people for the past 2 months while my company is looking to backfill 2 open positions. One position would be my direct manager. Both positions are higher pay grades than mine. I’ve asked for help multiple times and haven’t received any. The stress is now causing physical issues. Including insomnia, headaches, nausea, increased anxiety, painful eczema flairs and now I have shingles I’m under 50. I’ve already talked to a counselor who suggested I seek professional help. I’m in a no win situation and I’m trying to accept that and not let it bother me. My ADHD and rejection sensitivity dysfunction have made this impossible. Taking vacation is not an option b/c I’m a team of one and no one can cover my work. Do I have any options for FMLA or short term disability? Company is a large, publicly traded, worldwide household name. Thanks for the advice

Talk directly to your doctor, my amazing cedars teams took me off work for 2 months and the team survived. I was on short term disability, I have friends who've been out longer. See what your doctor can do for you.

Have you been with your company for at least a year? Or if not, worked 1440 hours? On FMLA you can be off work for up to 12 weeks. Start the process with your doctor.

You can certainly seek them out but there is no guarantee they'd be approved. Our general counsel and I got into a debate on whether or not an employee of ours could be approved for FMLA due to stress. He made his points, while I don't necessarily agree with them personally, they did make sense.

If you've been at your company a year or more I would think yes FMLA or STD are options. Speak with your doctor immediately and have them recommend. STD would be paid at a certain rate. FMLA would be unpaid but might last for longer.
