W-2s

W-2s

Today I received a corrected W-2 from one of the contract jobs I work. They said, "Please let me know if you have any questions, we are sorry for the delay caused due to the Quickbooks delay in providing us with the forms. So we have now prepared the forms." How does a delay with software negate the need to get W-2s out on time? They sent me a W-2 but there was no communication stating not to file taxes because the W-2s were incorrect.

Who do I report this to? This company is incredibly messy. They delayed my Medicaid application by 5 months. I had to call the state to ensure my paneling with Medicaid went through. And it ended up delaying my ability to see Medicaid clients for almost 4 months at my new full time job.

I hope there is an IRS # for this.

Why are they sending you a W-2 if you were a contract worker? Those are usually reported on a 1099.

Not necessarily. You can be a W2 employee of the contracting company. I've done it several times, had health benefits, etc through the contracting company.

That's not correct. I've worked as a W-2 contract in 2 companies, one being a very large national bank. It's about how the employer wants to either take them out or the contractor takes them out (1099).

Go to a CPA and have them assist you. There are many tax preparers out there. I use one in my town that's been around forever. They know tax laws, and can guide you.

Here is the site to find a local IRS agency in your area. As others have stated a CPA dedicated to taxes could help but the IRS might be able to deal with the company.

I am confused about one thing, you said it was a company that contracted you, so why are they giving you a W-2? That should be a 1099. I am sorry if I am putting more worry on you.
