I currently work for a boss who keeps copying and pasting the schedule. So if I want Saturday off, I would also have the next Saturday off. I would have to remind him that I can work that day after he makes the schedule. He does this to everyone, and I find it to be rather irritating. I want to confront him about it, because I worry it may cause more problems down the line. How can I do this politely and without overstepping?

You could offer to help with the scheduling send out. Perhaps he has issues with doing scheduling. Some people cannot deal with cumbersome scheduling. I for one worked in HR for many years and always had someone doing it for me. If it was left to me it took at least a day and often I would screw it up. Ask him if there is a workaround or perhaps before he pushes the schedule out email him the details of your wants for the week ahead of his publication. As long as it is in writing then you are covered and so is he. Problem solved!

Keep reminding him. Yes it's irritating but it's great to keep your job.

Ask him if you can help with the schedule!

Remind him, keep reminding him, and have multiple people complain and make the same request- the more the better!
