I'm a mother, a wife, and also the bread winner. I feel so overwhelmed by the many hats I wear not only in my personal life, but at work. My cup is full... and when I finally decided to make a career change to help my situation, I've gotten rejection letter after rejection letter despite my 10 year career progression.

My family is depending on me to provide, but I feel like I am sacrificing so much of my mental health staying at my organization. Taking a risk to leave is not an easy decision since we could lose everything if I fail, but it is absolutely necessary.

I feel so lost right now and just wanted to someone to say that it's going to be okay.

It's going to be more than okay. I'm sure you're looking at ways of cutting back on expenses already. Budget the heck out of everything, and put the underspent in a savings.

It's going to be okay. Things do work out and sometimes in very unexpected ways! The job market is challenging right now and you're not in the right headspace. Take a step back and regroup on your approach to the job search.

I do have a question for you-where is your partner in all of this? With you being the bread winner, he/she should be doing a lot to relieve a good portion of your work in the home. Sending lots of good vibes and wishes for great opportunities for you!

I, too, would like to know where the "partner" is in all of this? My daughter is in an almost similar situation and in her case her partner is just downright lazy and self-absorbed. He works part time (although he is able bodied) and contributes very little financially (1/4 of what she contributes). She works anywhere from 45-60 hours a week compared to his 26-30 hours. He expects myself and my ex-husband to provide for them when money is short and an emergency occurs and to provide for ALL of our grandsons athletics (equipment, fees, etc. for football, baseball and soccer) and if we refuse he flies into a rage and threatens to cut us off from our grandson (because if my daughter pays it takes money away from him, his fishing trips, concerts with his friends, etc.). He does little to nothing around the house and if asked to do anything he complains and does the worst possible job so she won't ask him again. He can't even be bothered to be a parent as his face is constantly in his phone on social media. My daughter will get home from work at 8pm some nights and still have to fix dinner and help with their sons homework; she is just drained. Her mental health has suffered horribly due to the stress so she has finally given him 30 days to secure full time work or a second job and grow up (he is 41 years old); if not has told him she is selling their house, taking their son and leaving.

That is AWFUL. I'm happy to hear she put her foot down. I hope she follows through. Your daughter sounds like an amazing woman. She'll be so much happier when she drops that dead weight POS.

You are going to make it. Hang in there. Just take the next best step each day.

Praying for you, knowing and trusting that God will provide. I am also sole breadwinner with job being eliminated. Employer has given me a month to find a different position within the company; otherwise layoff. It has been extremely stressful. Only one position that I'm waiting for a final interview on, and coming into my last week. If I don't get this position, I will have no insurance either.

Unemployment is looming and I hate the prospect of having to go through that whole process. Praying for us both!
