Applied for a job last week that I was excited about in another. While I tried to figure out a salary range as one was required, I couldn't find anything comparable so I made an educated guess according to similar roles.

I heard back from HR on Monday stating they liked my background and to let them know if I wanted to proceed at x salary. I replied and said I look forward to speaking them and then radio silence. Should I follow up providing my availability?

Yes. Follow up this coming Monday expressing your continued interest at the salary range they mentioned. Reiterate the salary and the position of interest. In your subject line, Follow-up, your name, and the title of the position, then in the body of the email short and sweet. Thank you for contacting me Monday, October 21, with your interest in proceeding to the next step.

I was a previous recruiter. I can tell you follow up is everything. Stay relevant. The subject line is a directive as well. Keep us posted and good luck!

You know - I had a recent experience with a job would not have been in my radar (AT ALL) but it is with a REALLY COOL non-profit and I truly respect their mission. So I applied and actually got an interview! I was super excited and felt the interview went well. At the end I asked about decision timing and next steps and she gave me a date that I would hear back if selected for a second interview...

That date came and went - crickets. I didn't follow up because I figured the job wasn't really in my experience wheelhouse (but I can totally do it). I got an email yesterday from the interviewer who apologized to me for:

    a) the delayed response and b) she got the date wrong for second interview decisions... so, I think I'm still in the running.

My point is just that sometimes things move slowly; and I think that you can politely reach out and offer your availability, and inquire about next steps for an interview.
