I got 3 rejections this month for positions I was qualified for. I'm just so fed up, that I don't even know what to do anymore. I feel like I am never going to find another job and especially one that pays well. I'm so sick of the BS employers and recruiters put candidates through.

So sorry. As you can tell from other posts, unfortunately, there is a lot of that going around. Keep persisting, get a "right now" temporary position if you need to while waiting for the right job, and take good care of yourself. Try to reach live human beings whenever you can and network to the extent possible; that tends to be more successful than applying without human contact.

Not to be a "Debbie Downer" but even the temp jobs are hard to come by. Being unemployed for over a year I have I decided to try the temp job route and get rejected from those as well.

So sorry. Keep trying because no matter how many nos you get, it only takes one yes to turn things around. If you have a college degree and no criminal record, you might be able to substitute teach.

This is the world of ATS systems aka computer programs that review resumes and spit out a list of candidates to be interviewed. Today, it is all about numbers.

Numbers are being abused by candidates and companies. Candidates are pumping out "customized ChatGPT" resumes by the hundreds which they throw at companies for jobs that they are often in many cases, not remotely qualified for. Companies are running computer programs to do first screenings.

My take? You should be applying to 3-6 positions every day that you are qualified for. You should probably be using 3 or more resumes. Once you have a pipeline of 50 plus applications, you can then reevaluate.

And please use whatever networks you have to get your application in front of the hiring manager so you can skip the computer line.

Last, you can tell how on the ball a company is by the time it takes to get back with you. Anything more than 2-3 weeks is a good sign you are dealing with a company that is in no big hurry to fill the position.

So while I agree with some of your statements, I will say that some of what you’re suggesting is not even possible. There are many job descriptions being posted that are similar and even duplicated. Many recruiters will go through the job boards, take a job description and then send the job description to the candidate and the job has either already been filled or it doesn’t exist. So I think it goes both ways. I have been out of work for almost 9 months and I have been looking every single day. I have applied for or reviewed job decriptions for hundreds of jobs. Like the original post stated I have gone through interviews and while I was told my resume looks great and I have a lot of skills, the next step after the interview they tell me that I’m not going forward because they want to review 4 other candidates. The problem is very few recruiters take the time to build a relationship with the candidate and work with them to find the right fit. Yes, I agree, it is all about numbers and ATS systems. I feel like there are recruiting companies that outsource as well so I am getting job description sent to me from recruiters from out of the country which I will not respond. I want to work with someone local that knows the job market and knows the client base. So I think there’s a lot of variables in the recruiting and job market industry that come from all different perspectives. It’s not easy to apply for 3 to 6 jobs a day, especially when many of the job descriptions are almost identical and don’t exist. In many cases, I have looked through a job description and thought I was qualified for until I got to the last part of the job description. What these companies are looking for is a mystery to me because many people in my situation are facing the same scenario. There is a lot of age bias as well. That is obvious..

We can’t forget about ghosting. I cannot tell you how many times a recruiter has reached out, you respond back and they never reply back. Or you go for an interview and specifically ask to give you feedback either way and don’t hear from them. These are just some examples. It is very frustrating and discouraging. Looking for a job has caused depression and anxiety because I feel the same way the poster does.
