Hello all. I have an opportunity to take cyber security classes for free. They're being offered by a nonprofit that helps low income employees move into better paying positions. That said, a lot of what I read about the tech industry is that it's very difficult to get a job. Any advice on wether I should take the classes? As I said, the classes are free and I have plenty of time to take them.

    Take the classes. No where in this page will you find regrets about learning and obtaining certifications. Even if you stay in your field, strong skills in the security arena will make you more attractive. It’s also a great demonstration of your interest in learning.

    Every organization in the world needs Cybersecurity professionals. Join a Cybersecurity professional networking group like CySys or CISA, ICS.

    Google or ChatGPT Cybersecurity networking groups to join- search LinkedIn etc.
    Never a shortage of jobs! Every company, academic, small business, global orgs, retail, government etc must secure all data. (Zero Trust, GDPR)

    Thank you everyone for your replies and for the confidence booster! I had been waffling but I really need to do something to get out of retail ($1500 a month to live on just isn't cutting it). Will definitely be taking the classes now.
