Is serving notice period mandatory?

I am thinking to make a job switch. I am an IT professional I have 1.3 years of experience. My notice period in 3 months. I dont want to resign and then do a job search I think thats quite risky. I want to do a buyout if possible. What should I do?

Will companies consider me?

Any thought or ways to help me out!!!!

What are you talking about? Are you quitting?

No, I am looking to switch into another company :)

If you are under contract, this could be very risky. Check your contract for non-disclosure and non-compete clauses before you even consider leaving. Otherwise, take the advice of others here and try to negotiate yourself out of the contract. It is doubtful they will pay you more than what you have worked/delivered per the contract unless written in a specific early termination clause.

First...what country are you in? I ask because a notice period of 3 months is not the norm in the U.S. I know other countries it can be up to 6 months. If you are in the U.S., do you have an actual contract? If that's the case, you may need to seek legal advice on how to exit earlier. If you are in another country, you may be able to negotiate with your current employer to release you earlier. Good luck.

It all depends on your labor laws and your agreement with your company.

Hi friend! For sure provide some more info here. What country are you in? Is this a notice period that's written into your contract? I don't know what 'do a buyout' means, but someone else might.

If you are in EU and the notice period is 3 months yes if it is in your contract you have to abide by it. You could try to negotiate out of it but might get pushback. Be professional and let them know asap that you want out.

Definitely read the employer terms to give notice - and get an understanding of what you'll lose if you don't follow those terms. Sometimes it's worth the risk. Sometimes not. Good luck!

assuming you’re in the US, check out labor laws as well x California is an at will state, you can quit or get fired at any time. Giving notice is a professional formality not a legally mandatory expectation. Three months is quite a long notice period, the usual period is 2 weeks and you can certainly job search while you have a job. You don’t have to wait until you quit to start your job search.

I would encourage you to read your contract and reach out to a lawyer if in doubt, but most people do a job search while employed, then give 2 weeks notice as a professional, and leave.

Generally speaking, there is no legal obligation to give notice, though that depends on things like the terms of any contract you might have signed. This is a good article on the topic: https://www.thebalancemoney.com/reasons-not-to-give-two-weeks-notice-2063034
