Any leads or ideas?

I took a substantial pay cut after my last job after 8 months of searching. I was in recruiting leadership with a firm and settled for a recruiting position due to the bad economy.

i have applied to hundreds of jobs and have not gotten much of a response. I am now embarking on more targeted searches and going after industries or companies that I would like to work for and feel that I would add value. Nothing yet.

Can anyone share any of your creative or out of the box strategies with me?

Thanks..

Network. Start with job fairs and industry conferences you can attend, and make sure you have a good presence on LinkedIn. You are on the outside looking in now. What are the things that caught your eye when you were a recruiter? What types of resumes moved forward for interviews, and what hit the trash bin? Look at everything you put in your applications through the recruiter's eye, because you have it. The world is ridiculous now, but you must have confidence in your abilities and believe in yourself.

Have you been creating connections with people in the industries and/or companies you are looking to move into? If not, doing so will give you a better understanding of what they are looking for and skills you might need that would give you a leg up over other candidates. Good luck!
