I'm looking for a mentor in HR!

I'm looking for a mentor in HR! I am in Upper management and would love to lean on someone with like-minded goals, can provide guidance and advice, and that I can learn from. I currently do not have this at my job since I run the HR team there and do not have a true Upper level HR partner. I am looking to continue to expand my knowledge and not stay stagnant. How would I go about finding this?

Through your local or national SHRM. Also, look at higher ed MHR programs. Read up on their programs and who leads them. Many of these leaders were CHROs, or HR Directors or have been in high level HR roles for huge corporations. Also look for HR professors who are well sited, perhaps tenured faculty, meaning they have their PhDs, and are well respected in the HR community. I hope that helps some.

I found this on Google: "A human resources business partner, or HRBP, is an HR professional who can handle everything from hiring and benefits to compliance and employee relations. Some employers hire a dedicated HRBP within their HR department for such purposes, while others choose to partner with a professional employer organization (PEO)."

Because you run the HR team, is there anyone there that is capable of filling this role or you may want to start an employment search?

Are you a member of SHRM or some other HR organization? They might have a mentoring program. I’d also check with where you graduated to see if they have a program or can connect you with someone.

A mentor does NOT have to be in your same field. In fact, I would challenge you to seek outside of your department for that. It may bring in a pov outside of any biases you may not have thought of. IMO
