The feeling of being a mother for the first time.

Finding out I was pregnant was exciting and nerve wrecking because it wasn’t planned. During my pregnancy I was diagnosed with Cholestasis ; it’s elevated liver enzymes my enzymes are high. I was a high risk of my pregnancy, I give birth at 36 week & 1 day weighting 5 pounds 11 ounces. I love being a mom you don’t know the feeling of love till you experience joyful, special.

Congrats to you!! I am a first time mom too ....at the age 40. My pregnancy was unexpected as well. While my pregnancy was uneventful, I experienced a lot of stress emotionally during that time - I lost my job at 7.5mos pregnant, my best friend cut me off, I moved to a new city and I had a strained relationship with my mom. I have always wanted to have a child and after I delivered I was so sad b/c I didn't immediately have the "fall in love" feeling I had read about. I was thrilled to become a mom and knew I loved my daughter but it wasn't packaged in a way I had expected. I agree, it is an indescribable feeling -- like she is sleeping now in the next room and I miss her incredibly! :)

My best friend from college just became a firs time mom at 36. I’m a mom of two — had my first at 29. Our friendship had waned over the years because we were in different spots. But as soon as she had her baby she reached out & was like, I never knew what you were going through until now. There’s no experience like having a baby & becoming a mother. It’s indescribable.

Being a mother for the first time is explainable to anyone who never goes through it. I felt weird and didn't really enjoy the process and that's not always the case. I went through an identity crisis and gained way more weight than I ever projected... Sometimes that's not the case. So even for women who've been pregnant before, their experiences are different. Huge congrats on becoming a mom! That's so exciting and I wish you all of the best!
