I totally get it—being passed over after investing time and energy into interviews is incredibly frustrating. Give yourself the space to feel bummed, because it's valid. Just don’t let yourself stay stuck in that mindset. Reframe it as a redirection, not a rejection—maybe those roles weren’t meant for you because something better is coming.

Use what you learned from those interviews to sharpen your next move. Get really clear on what you're looking for, and apply through that lens. Depending on where you are in your career, you might also consider tapping into your network, attending industry events, or even connecting with an executive recruiter if that feels like the right move.

It’s okay to feel down—but don’t forget: you’re showing up, putting yourself out there, and doing the work. That will pay off. You’ve got this.

Thank you for this response. I'm in the same situation as the OP. It's disheartening, but your post is very encouraging.

But you got the interviews and was actually chosen for one. Those are wins!

Honestly in this market your track record is amazing. With.this kind of momentum there is a very good chance you will be hired very soon.

5 interviews is an insane response. So please don't get frustrated. You can expect to find a job soon due to your resume and background.

I've had 4 interviews in the last 3 mos and am in the same boat. Ugh.

So did the one end in an offer??

I haven't heard about the one left.

While difficult, turn our attention to the one while continuing to job search. I've been searching for a year now and I've gotten to final rounds only to receive a generic rejection or not at all until i kept following up to confirm I wasn't moving forward.

It's a difficult market so focus on the fact that you're interviewing when a lot of people aren't getting that far in the process. I wish you all the best and those other roles, weren't the right fit at this time!

don't put all your eggs in one basket ever while in a job search. competition is often fierce and with many searches taking longer than usual it is what it is. thank goodness you are still employed for now and during the continuing search time use it to take some classes or to tone up your skills in areas where you might become more marketable. keep in mind attitude and being upbeat often goes further even when rejected. Send a nice note to the company that rejected you and let them know that while you are sure they made a great choice now and it was not you that in the future you would love to be considered for other roles upcoming. keep in touch with them every 3-6 months to see what is open. unless they said never come back often your interest will spark them for the next hiring period. make it positive and don't go to the dark side! good luck!

Although it is extremely difficult, I encourage you not to let it get you down. I was there and I’m fairly certain I interviewed for more than 5 jobs and definitely the same for the number of applications I submitted. I pushed myself to keep looking for openings and the very last job I found is where I am today.

Often we are overqualified for jobs or they are just not good fits. I encourage you to keep looking and not give up!

Focus on the 1 that didn’t pass you over, not the 4 that did

I am the same one who made this post. I just had another interview. Should I ask for feedback if I don't get either one?

That's painful, but nearly everyone in the job market is going through or has been through the same thing. It does suck to put in so much effort only to be passed over.

But one of the interviews has resulted in either an offer or is otherwise promising, so focus on that one and keep interviewing. Best of luck!
