I’ve been out of work too long, it’s getting depressing having all of this experience and expertise with no results.

I know the feeling. However, God knows what he is doing. I have been out of work caring for my teenager with a muscle tear in his chest. Had I been on a job I would have caught hell in trying to get some time off work caring for him. Since you are not working now at this minute, try writing children books, sewing and making crafts. Find your passion of what else you are good at and make a go of that for a minute. You might just surprise yourself. Plan weddings, knit, make a gift basket (Valentines Day will be here soon), Birthday or Baby Cakes. I have relatives that run a bakery out of her kitchen decorating special birthday cakes. The cakes are very beautifully decorated. A big Hit. I even saw a young lady online selling name brand purses, handbags, and pocket books. Too rich for my blood and tasts, but non-the-less its a small business thats working. My other cousin sells Mary Kay. The other perfume oils. I love making gift baskets every now and then for very special occassions. People love them. I like making people happy if only for a minute. Try baking cookines, cupcakes, and sell them in your neighborhood door to door first to have them sample a few. People love free things and samples at first. Then you make a list price sheet for the cookies and post up at the library, or nearby apartment billboards. List your ingredients on your package and make it look real attractive and cute. Make fancy Aprons like you used to do in high school in home economics class. Sell them at the flea market. I would like an affordable African American Apron that does not cost over $50 bucks. $20 is about the most I will spend for myself and a gift for others.

Here's hoping that this is the week when your breakthrough happens. If you see any relatives or friends for Thanksgiving, be sure they know you're looking for work. Reach out on Linked In and any other social media to former co-workers, former bosses you're on good terms with, and also look for seasonal jobs; they may open the door to something more substantial. If you haven't already, get someone to review your resume and make sure you have the right keywords, no typos, etc. Someone at your public library may be able to help you with this, or if you upload it here (with name and contact information removed), I am sure that someone on this platform could help, too. Also try something superstitious; knock on wood or throw a pinch of salt over your left shoulder to make your luck change for the better. It may be a placebo effect, but if it works, it works! And if you're religious, not only pray about it but also let your pastor/priest/rabbi etc. know that you're looking. They often have connections that may help you too. Don't give up!

I’m looking for work in operations or project management. I have years of experience in non profit management and want to move to another field
