I was an Assistant manager of a gas station for over two years, with plenty of yard work, like my hours and little to no help,I can pretty much run that place by my self ,and keep it very clean to the tip top.yet I was bullied and antagonized ,by hire ups, after my manager quit, and I ended up at a different location, due to not cooperating with the hire ups on giving them books that the ex manager created for training manuals.then after the ☔ relo- cation,my district manager contacts me on a Sunday afternoon, asking how did the like my new spot, mind you, I was lied to about the whole move anyhow.so I let her know exactly how I felt about it and said from the beginnings ning that my reply was off the record since I was off the clock.do you know she took and printed out the response that was to be off the clock ,off the record, took it to her boss and showed up at the new location on Monday and fired me!she asked me all i did was answered her.due to my answer I was to fired, now im on the companies s the bulletin board as to NEVER REHIRE.!!! I have put my heart and soul in to that job,I came in that company with bells on from day one.i love to work with people,I think my customers miss me,or the ones I have been able to see, since being let go of, say they all do.what advice can you all giv me as to how would you handle the situation.note: the company filed my unemployment the day before they fired me ,and from March 4th 2024 ,til NOW, I HAVENT RECIEVED A DIME FROM UNEMPLOYMENT.!

You fight to get your unemployment. By the way, in the United States you must file for unemployment not your employer. They can try and fight it but they do not file anything on your behalf. M

First, if you haven't already, contact your state unemployment and start filing. Ideally, speak to a rep (sometimes you have to wait on hold for a long time- longest I waited was 2 hours---but once you're in, you can have an account and move things forward). Related to that, contact your state's bar association or legal aid to find a lawyer that specializes in employment law. You could find someone who gives 15-30 minutes of free advice, so come prepared with a brief explanation to answer all their questions (the who, what, when, where, why) and ask if you have a case.

Depending on your state and company contract, answers will differ. They can advise if you have a case and you can decide if it's worthwhile to fight. Since it's been several months, you'll want to take care of the unemployment part as well as asking for legal help.

I think you learned that you should never fully trust anyone at an employer (the company, HR, coworkers---they are not your true friends for which you can be truly honest--there's never really an "off the record."). I mean to say, never really divulge too much. You must be skillful with your answers.

They moved you because it suited them. They wanted you to do things -and you didn't- and they wanted to understand if you were going to be a problem. They spoke to you and your answers showed them you were an issue (in their eyes). "Never Rehire" is significant as it relates to that company.

The advice from the employment lawyer can help you get the money you need. Personally, I would find ways to close the chapter on your feelings about this company.

    Second- Finding work-

You have skills and interests. Look at similar companies. Look for franchise work. Look to start your own company (it seems like you like being your own boss).

    Good luck!
