Hi Community!

Hi Community!

Why am I getting rejected from workday applications too soon (1.5 hours - 4 days) for jobs that I'm a good fit for? I checked my resume against the ATS tools and also got a 55%-62% keyword match with the job description via jobalytics (which is considered quite high). I am on F1 STEM OPT and am ofcourse marking yes for the 'Do you need sponsorship in the future?' question. I doubt it is sponsorship unless EEO is really a joke. Please help!

F-1 students are not protected from citizen status discrimination.

Employers are allowed to and will look at this as it is a large cost for them.

If you do require sponsorship, many employers will decline your application. I'm not sure that they will even include in the job posting that they will not sponsor.

Also, do not ever lie about your need for sponsorship. I know you say right now you are definitely being honest, but don't let frustration lead you to lie about sponsorship. I cannot tell you how frustrating that is from an employe perspective, even if the company is willing to sponsor, to find someone lied.

Sponsorship is not a big need in the US for the majority of openings, position and niche dependent. I work for a global company with home in US and we don't need to sponsor. That is not a needed investment at that this time from the pov of most employers, so yes they can set Workday to auto-decline those applications. It's best to know up front, isn't it? Your time is valuable. Now, not all employers use Workday the same, but you can set up to auto-decline. It's not a joke nor a violation.

This company, I did check has filed H1B petitions in the past and continues to do so within this year. I've also had friends in the same company with the same immigration status and the company has filed them for the H1B Lottery. Should I apply to other roles in this company? Or will I just get rejected again? Is anyone even looking at my resume :(

This should go without saying but also ensure that your resume has things like correct layout, grammar, spelling etc
