Hi community!

Hi community!

I need some advice on my job search journey and whether or not I should stay at my current job. I am looking for a remote job and I have no problem with traveling for work. I would be open to a hybrid position, but I do not have a car, which is why I am looking to eliminate a commute.

For some background:

I currently work at an advertising agency and I live in the same building (on different floors). I like the people I work with and appreciate the lack of commute. I started at this company as a traffic coordinator, which was client-facing and managing projects from start to finish internally and externally. I accepted the salary offered, which was the base salary, and did not negotiate. We are a small company and I have gotten experience at all levels essentially operating as an account manager. Eventually, I ended up in a dual position as a social media coordinator as our social media strategist quit unexpectedly from one day to the next. I eventually transitioned to social media coordinator even though I am acting as a strategist. I was able to bump my salary to $42,000, which was a decent improvement. I live in Miami, FL and the cost of living is extremely high. My paychecks are gone by the time they enter my account for rent and groceries. Then our company lost a lot of business in 2024 and now I am back to an all-around helper with no solidified position, but I single-handedly run around 6 of our accounts (social media and account coordinator is my title). I am looking to switch to a more stable position and salary. I do not have a lot of years of experience under my belt, but I am a quick learner and have a degree in communications.

I have been applying to so many positions and catering my resume to each in order to highlight different elements of my experience. I hardly hear back from anyone and it doesn't seem to go anywhere. A lot of my applications get responded with an email saying the position has been cancelled. Is there a chance these positions are posted as a data grab to collect emails and phone numbers? I have been receiving significantly more scam calls since I have started my search.

Any advise is welcome, I know this is more of a rant but I am really looking to find a position with a 15-20,000 salary boost. I know that at my current job, it would take me many years to get to this place as even higher level employees are not making 6 figures, which is my ultimate goal. In my current job I have proved myself to be an asset by showing that I can handle any position I am put in without training or prior experience.

Also any job offer should be in writing with the compensation fully stated to ensure you are paid as agreed

Compensation in writing but they can add significantly MORE DUTIES after.
Happened to me. Hired as Director of Accounting. Within ONE WEEK, Added Director of HR and Director of warehouse supplies.
    NO INCREASE in pay.

They said "I was uniquely qualified "

Within 2w I was looking again. Horrible place.

Real agencies will be easy to spot because they will have fabulous websites, highly engaged staff and partners, brilliant social media, and lots of posts about clients. If all you see online is a vague email about a vague job post, it is probably a scam.
