How to approach someone about the possibility of bringing "value add" services to their business.

How to approach someone about the possibility of bringing "value add" services to their business. I am enrolled in an advanced Excel course. The teacher previously worked in the corporate world (saw the writing on the wall) and started his own business in IT computing for small to mid size companies. I am a subcontractor and can provide services to his company that will add value to the expertise he provides his clients. How would you approach him to discuss further? I have his email address. Approach him after class one day? How should I begin the conversation? Thank you!

I would have a conversation to find out if there is interest in a presentation. After a presentation I would follow up with a written proposal then negotiate the proposal. This is usually the course these things take.

What does he not have that you could offer? A network, contacts? Specific teaching skills? Expertise in a parallel field? You would need to provide evidence you could help grow the business.

If I were in your shoes, I would broach the topic in person but have words ready to quickly explain the value I could add.

I did the same thing. By any capacity necessary. And sooner rather than later.

Maybe email about meeting him after class.
