The lunch thing is mostly likely the law.

The lunch thing is mostly likely the law. At least in CA if you work more than 6 hours (even 1 min more) the company gets dinged with a “missed meal break” and has to pay you extra for that. Asking if you want a walk to your car after work is a safety thing and she is just being nice- maybe she’s the one who wants a walk to her car and is embarrassed to say so.

I work for the State I live in and we are all forced to work through lunch for team meetings regularly/ I have a doctors note to walk an hour a day and have to skip walking the days the meetings take up my lunch hour- we are supposed to “eat” while working- even though I am not paid for that hour-

I work for Labor & Employment lawyers (over 30 yrs). It is common for assistants to work thru lunch and not get paid - I do it everyday or I wouldn't have a job. I also work past 5:00 not paid. I work on cases and think "that's all?" lol.
