Path.
I started my product career before product was a role in the digital space. I worked in the digital space as a product person for about 10 years beore Product was a job title, which meant that I could build my own product career path.
Because Product training is so easy to come by these days, there is no harm in getting some training. There are paid options (Pragmatic and others) and there are plenty of free options (youtube, podcasts, linkedIn, Udemy {many library systems include Udemy courses as part of your free library membership}. I'm a fan of having a lot of Product training, and then applying a mixture of product management tools to any particular product issue you are faced with. No one product management thesis or tool will work across every product issue you will be faced with in your career and in fact forcing your companies product issues into a PM format that you know will hinder your product career (in my opinion) so having a large number of product managment tools, tricks and solution in your Product toolbox will help you and your career.
